White Lies Poem by keith brown

White Lies

From Adelaide to Darwin,
didn't leave my living room.
A trip aboard the Ghan
did the whole damn trip on zooms!

Couldn't feel the train a rocking
or the rattle of the track,
missed the heat and dust of the wild
Australian out back.

Didn't spend a single cent, in the
fancy dining car, nor
slept a restless night
beneath the outback stars.

From Adelaide to Darwin
I didn't pay my fare.
Just sat there in my living room
In my favourite comfy chair.

I enjoyed every stop,
along that outback track, I
Wonder if they'll televise;
a trip
To bring me back!
