While I Am Drunk Poem by Lee Crowell

While I Am Drunk

Rating: 5.0

tonight while i am drunk
i want to put down in words
these thoughts that right now seem so profound
and tomorrow
if they still dance
if they jump up from the page
if they get in my face
and command my attention
like a front row seat at a Clapton jam session
if they seem less stupid than the myriad of utterances
that were tossed around this place tonight
then i will know there is a reason to drink anytime

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

So, it was easy to talk yourself in to a little more drinkies Lee. It sure does make the mind do crazy and profound things a the time. We had a poet in our group who lived with wine and his dog but the dog died and he moved away. I still can't understand the poems in the book we published! The jam session sounds fabulous as is your poem. Great job Lee. 10 Karin Anderson
