Where Is My Jasmine? Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

Where Is My Jasmine?

O God, tell me where is my Jasmine?
In this Marina beach on that fatal day,
I brought here my love, my soul to feel the breeze
which heals the wounds, the goons made.
We were yet to wed and share the bed.
But I held her firm to my heart with full strength,
when the waves rose, galloped fast and engulfed us.
The violent tsunami wrenched her from me
and pulled back with all its booty.
I was tossed atop a tree
and I grasped it with all my might.
An hour later I felt that my heart was no more.
The furious cobra opened its hood
and bit in a minute to destroy.
A cruel tiger to chase and assault
and draw the killed prey to hide.
A thunderbolt to hit and hunt sans mercy.
I lost you dear and my heart as well
to roam alone on this earth as a mad chap.
To whom I could tell our story
to get relief from the burgeoning misery?
Our marriage will be made in heaven soon.
Till then I be here in the light of the moon.
