Where Are You Now God Poem by kel davis

Where Are You Now God

If angels should come
and give me their blessing,
I would be a schizophrenic-
not divine.
Why is it so, if someone
thousands of years ago saw
beings from the heavens and
heard the message of God,
they would be considered saintly;
when today,
in these same circumstances,
an individual would be promptly be
placed on anti-psychotics and
mood stabilizer to quell these 'divine' encounters.
Why is it back 2,000 years ago people
could speak to burning bushes and
communicate with sentient beings
who traveled through the sky,
and in some cases, having a direct
interactions with God?
Yet, not once has another prophet come;
all we're left with are anecdotes from 2,000
years ago that, for the most part, are hearsay.
Faith is a safety blanket from death.
Fate is coincidence
