When our eyes first met
I knew I should never fear
My heart lifts like a bird
Whenever you are near


The first thing I want to say
And I hope I make this clear
I always want to be with you
Whenever you are near


I hope someday you can tell me
You’ll stay by me and never steer
Away from me and love me forever
Whenever you are near


Love is sweet and love is blind
I want you to stay here
Me in your arms forever more
Whenever you are near

Then one day you fled away
Causing me to shed a tear
You made my heart sink lower than low
Why are you never near?
