When Vision Fails Poem by Long Tooth

When Vision Fails

When vision fails me as it must
When hearings temple yields to rust
When friends have left as they will do,
I'll look inside and still find you.

When only music's in my head,
When other folks might envy dead,
When I feel chilled, alone and blue,
I'll light the fire of knowing you.

What is it I KNOW that others have missed?
Changed by black magic the first time we kissed?
Where is this hope found that I can't resist?
Trust in a promise where others see mist?

When no one cares what race I've won,
When lifetime's gain fades in the sun,
When Muse no longer serves me too,
As I survive, I'll think of you.

And when I don't, well then we'll see,
If Bible's words are fantasy,
But this much I still know is true,
The Grace I found began with you.
