When Old Age Calls Poem by EZEKIEL MAU

When Old Age Calls

When oldage calls: I must dance the tune of time
When oldage calls: my sight becomes dim as night
When oldage calls: my strength is pale before a flight
I wonder then, why i never prepared a third leg
for this lonely bay of life

Once I felt bliss and youthfulness did trick me
with immortality
Then oldage calls and I feel not a tick
in my tendons to carry
Too soon to forget that I a spokesman, did soar
the peak amidst my kinsmen
But oldage calls and I am mum sake of a king's dread

My bucals fail me, my fairness drains
Poco a poco my music is caged in
That which tickles me I yearn no more
My buds would not deduce its favorite salmon

Beauty is vain and youth will loose its savour
Why then did I not for the gain search for
O! mother earth rejoice, a son returns
(May I ask if it would thy gloom restore? for i have
afore time thy heart destroy)

As oldage calls let me my soul prepare and
quick clean
Cos mother's bed is in the rear

Old age has benefits if its experience is used
