When Learning's Fun! Poem by Richard D Remler

When Learning's Fun!

.....................

My Teacher,
Mrs. Wickillickitt
Is really clever smart.
Those ABC's
And 123's
She seems to know
By heart.

Twelve inches
In a foot,
She says.
She'll add them up
Six different ways,
And tell the Class
We're very brave
Whenever we
Don't misbehave.

Mrs. Wickillickitt
Points a lot,
At every single
Chalkboard dot.
And every time
She mentions
'Look! "
It means
We're peeking
In a book.
And who's to
Say
We ought not
Peek,
When we do
So sixty
Times a week.

Because that's where
She will
Prove to me
Her
ABC
And 123,
And I will
No doubt
Raise my hand,
Then ask a
Question
Rather grand,
And she'll say,
"No, no, no, no, no, "
But she'll say it
Really nicely so
I won't feel
So bad
I got it wrong -
That I've had
Potential
All along.

Pencils sharpened!
Now be quick.
Thinking caps on,
Tick, tock, tick.
Notebooks opened,
One, Two, Three -
And A, B, C leads right to G....
With Mrs. Wickillickett
There,
Learning's fun,
So best beware!

And when learning
Is as fun
As this,
School's something
We won't miss.
So put your
Thinking Caps on tight,
We're fixing now
To read,
To write!
Eraser's ready,
One on one.
Our School Day
Has just begun.
