When I'M Old Poem by Patricia PMC

When I'M Old

One day when I'm weak, frail and old,
and I'm left all alone with no one to hold.
Will I think back on my life with sad regrets,
and will I dwell on things I should forget?
Will I sit and think of all the time lost,
and pray for it back at any cost.

Or will I be thankful for the life I've led,
and look forward to the wonders that lie ahead.
Will I daydream of times when I was young,
when the sweet taste of life was on my tongue.
Will I still hum the tunes of music so sweet,
that once filled my heart and made me complete.

When I am ready and the Angel of death knocks,
will I think 'oh my God' your heaven really rocks.
When I see all my loved ones who came before me,
will they welcome me home and shout with glee?

I wonder if God will bless me with wings,
so I may fly back to look over things.
Will you feel my presence as I come near,
hear my words of love whispered in your ear.
Will you be happy that I finally went home,
or wish I was back so with you I could roam.

One life here on earth is all we receive,
so make the best of it and do not grieve.
Treasure each moment like it was the last,
and never look back with regrets of the past.
Keep loving memories close to your heart,
there you will find we are never really apart.
