What Would You Do? Poem by Dante' Camerlengo

What Would You Do?

If I said I loved you
And asked you to hold me,
And I smiled and said:
You’re a fool,
This piece of coal doesn’t feel
Anythin’
At all?

What would you do?

Would you walk away?
Slap me and forget me?
Would you spit in my face,
Tell your friends?
Would you cry—
Die a little inside?
Or tighten your grip
And just squeeze me
Into a gem?
