What We Could Be Poem by jess schwarcz

What We Could Be

I wish you could see,
And give us a chance,
Just you and me.
Cause I dream of you every night,
I can’t get you off my mind,
You’re in my every sight.
Damn I wish you could see,
Could only see what we really could be.

Think back to our last dance,
Late at night under the starts.
You made me beautiful,
Took away my fears and all known scars.
You could see me,
And what we could be,
And how we should have been.
But you turned away,
Hoping to forget what we had,
Tomorrow or even the next day.

You pulled the card that said “friends”,
And I knew no matter what,
This was the end.
Nothing could ever again lead to more,
No longer above the tallest trees,
Would I ever again sore.

I wish you could see,
Who I really am inside,
And what we could really be.
I wish you could see, only see,
What we could be,
Oh what we could be.
