What I Want To Be Poem by Jonathan Way

What I Want To Be

It wont be easy, to be these things
but, oh, the overwhelming joy it brings.
To see you grin, from ear to ear,
To hear you laugh, whenever you're near.

To be your friend, to be your lover,
to be your pillow, and even your covers.
You are my heart, my love, my soul and spirit,
You want me as yours? Than please, so be it.

To be the one with whom you run,
Away from zombies or just for fun.
Ill always be there, right by your side,
Through thick and thin, along for the ride.

Ill be the place you rest your head,
when you're tired and sleepy, or far from bed.
Whether you're safe and warm, or in big trouble;
Even when you're drunk, especially seeing double.

To be given your love, with all of your heart.
Ive been pierced by Cupid's arrow, like a bulls-eyed dart.
I shall admit, I love you deeply,
So much more, than all behind me.

And when you sleep, inside my arms,
Ill keep you safe, and away from harm.
To be your hero, your knight, your loving delight,
forever more, into the night.

And in the quiet times, when its just us,
When the world disappears and all is just,
Those times are my favorite, when we're side by side,
When words cant describe the feelings inside.

Whenever you cry, it saddens my heart.
I want to help you, not just in part.
To be the one you run to, when you're in need.
To plant a little happiness, even one seed.

And when it grows, into that tree,
When joy will reign and despair will flee,
we'll be there, together at last,
for all the future, forgetting the past.

And when time is end, and all is done,
we'll be together; two as one.
Ill take your hand, look into your eyes,
and say these words, 'I love you. Good-bye'.
