Welcome Of The Mockingbirds Poem by Juan Olivarez

Welcome Of The Mockingbirds

Rating: 5.0

Sweet songs wecome me,
Back to my home that I love so.
Up in the trees wild and free,
The Mockingbirds songs fairly flow.

I love to sit, and hear all day,
These glorious songs, they sing for me.
They've come to me, from far away,
And there are more now, as I see.

There's eight or ten in my live oak,
Pouring out their songs in glee.
The wonderful songs of the feathered folk,
Are just so beautiful to me.

I've been gone so long, and they came to me,
To welcome me to my humble home.
With songs of beauty, joy and glee,
Just so I won't be alone.

Nothing to me is half so sweet,
As mockingbirds up in the trees.
Their serenades are so complete,
Their songs are carried on the breeze.

The most glorious reception I've received,
From the mockingbirds these past few days.
And now my heart no longer grieves,
I've finally come home to stay.
