Weight Of The World Poem by Doctor Dashaun Snipes

Weight Of The World

Rating: 5.0

In the depths of darkness, I bear the weight of the world,
A burden heavy on my soul, to the void it swirls,
The question lingers in the air, a haunting melody unfurled,
'If you love me, you will let go of me, ' the words hurl.

I won't be held down by chains of love's deceit,
I won't succumb to the binds of false promises sweet,
But who are you to be, to decide my defeat,
To cling to me like shadows, with no retreat.

Your grasp tightens, fingers digging deep,
In the blackest of nights, where secrets we keep,
It means nothing to me, this love so cheap,
For in its embrace, my spirit does weep.

I don't want you beside me, your presence a curse,
In the shadows and whispers, it only gets worse,
Alone in the darkness, where my demons disperse,
I walk the path of solitude, my heart averse.

So let me go, release me from your grip,
In the silence of the night, in the shadows that slip,
For I am not yours to hold, not yours to equip,
With false hopes and dreams, with a heart that won't skip.

The weight of the world rests heavy on my chest,
A burden I carry alone, put to the test,
In the darkness I dwell, where pain finds its nest,
In the emptiness of it all, where love does not invest.

So fade into the night, let me be free,
In the echoes of sorrow, where my soul longs to flee,
For I am not yours, nor will I ever be,
In the abyss of my heart, I find my decree.
