Weeds (1)

Distractions which from God would turn
Would rob us of His peace
Must be to us of grave concern
And brought at once to cease

These are the weeds, the thorns and stones –Lk.8: 5-15
That hinders holy lives
They crush the spirit break the bones
And kill like deadly knives

We’ve all had weeds from time to time
Some may as yet remain
Causing us turn to lives of crime
Or search for worldly gain

Beware of all the stones and weeds
Dormant concealed within
For are they not the devil’s seeds?
That grows to mortal sin?

Unless we dig them up and fight
We’ll toil with nothing done
We need to rise while yet there’s light
And seek God’s righteous Son

But how; we ask is this to be?
How is a spirit fought?
How can our flesh, from weeds be free?
How is a demon caught?

We must assail, at times defend
The Holy Ghost shows how
In Jesus’ name, each knee must bend
And every head will bow

Demonic thorns that lead to shame
Through Christ, are plain to see
Through fasting prayer in Jesus’ name
We’ll make these devil’s flee PTO…
