We Walk Among You Poem by grim blackhart

We Walk Among You

We walk among you
Silently guarding our secrets
Behind emotionless faces
Underneath human flesh
We are ageless souls
Who have seen the first light of time
And the darkest centuries of heaven
Once cherished by the creator
His breath was our essence
His blood our flesh
His love our desire
His anger our wrath
We stood in battle as witnesses
to a magnificent war between immortals
Who could only suffer in degrees
Instead of submit to the mercy of death
Your world is our punishment
An immortal’s hell
Powerless and nameless
We suffocate in human futility
We cringe at your arrogant cruelty
Cleverly inventing new ways to kill yourselves
Disgusted by your kingdoms of greed
Progress only with materialism’s price
Abashed by your evolutionary chain of idiocracy
Your meaningless cycle of life
Is a repetition of worthlessness
Assuring our resurrection of agony
Our wings brutally severed
Phantom pains act as malicious reminders
Our longing overwhelming
Impossible to be fulfilled
Our rage overflowing
Impossible to be quenched
Our ache ever present
Is to remain unhealed
Your world is our hell
And we walk among you
Trapped and desperate
Overcome with anger and disdain
Waiting for our sentence to end
In the freedom of destruction
