We Get Told Poem by Jack Sedman

We Get Told

We get told
We sit here and get old
As the headlines press and pant,
Force you to react – stick you
To the machine.

For all we know,
All the dead animals
Are men; children
Women trapped and knowing
It, eyes glazed.

The figures are impossible,
Improbable, true.
The money incredible,
Ridiculous, true.

We are global [a world apart]
Connected [divided]
Turned on [eyes glazed].
