We Could Never Imagine Poem by umaprosad das

We Could Never Imagine

We could never imagine
That we committed to a great sin
By giving birth to a son
With our utmost pleasure and intention

We could never imagine
Unexpected and unforeseen
That it will be the cause of pain
Making us in future repentant and insane

We could never imagine
When our conditions would be odd and grim
In our old age of disability and isolation
Forced to a debauched living, no alteration

We could never imagine
That the fruits of our love and dream
Would make the deep wounds in our life of both
When our sweet baby turns to the youth in growth

We could never imagine
That very often, the human being
Take summersaults now and then
Most selfish and self concentrated the human brain

We Could Never Imagine
