We Can't The Future Behold Poem by Peter S. Quinn

We Can't The Future Behold

Oh darling don't let me cry
dreams are all now sleeping,
moments that said goodbye
in memories I'm keeping.

Days long gone in their still
are all in the ways of deep,
precedent that didn't fulfill
and are no longer to keep.

Years that have passed on by
finding their way in missing,
open to dreams and the sky
profound of the lost wishing

What we had that is done
bouquets of falling flowers,
now these times are all gone
each their minute and hours.

Oh darling I'm lost for sound
for the times are not easy,
each date has gone around
the corners of life so breezy.

And what was once so new
has gone and become old,
our chance and life so true
we can't the future behold.
