We Can At Least Say We Tried Poem by Ray Hansell

We Can At Least Say We Tried

I stare at the star filled sky
Trying hard to understand
The war's that scar the land
Why man keeps killing man

When will all nations realize
That the people within want peace
They're tired of all the fighting
They want the killing to all cease

Men, women and children
Pray, looking to the sky
They know too many people
Have already died

They'd like to see all fighting
Come to it's end
They'd like to see the whole world
Standing together as friends

They're tired of all the heartaches
Too many tears have been cried
I believe it can one day happen
Let us at least say we tried
