Wasted Love Poem by Suzawaka Phiri

Wasted Love

All I wanted was to love her
And nothing more.
All I wanted was to have her
And nothing more.
All I wanted for her to love me
And nothing more.
All I wanted was us to be together
And nothing more.
I promised to give her my soul
My heart I promised to give her
For she was all I needed
And nothing more.
She is a branch, and I'm a bird,
She was the branch I needed
And nothing more.
But there was envy among stars,
The stars wanted my flower.
There was envy among fallen stars,
Fallen stars too wanted my flower.
Thus, I loved but never was I loved
It was love that I needed
And nothing more.
