Wasted Breath? Poem by Phyllis Strong

Wasted Breath?

Would God had breathed into your nostrils
The breath of life, if He had known;
The plans He had for you to do,
you would not do, but did your own?

The person He had for you to marry
you'd look and say, "That's not mine."
The cross He had for you to carry;
You'd say, "It's too heavy."
And grumble and whine.

God almighty did not waste His breath;
He knew the things, you would not do.
God all knowing,
knew the end from the beginning,
before He breathed life into you.

And so, He breathed the breath of life,
and placed you on this earth.
And offered you to make the choice;
Life and blessings
Or
Death and curse?
