Waking Up Poem by Jatie Apple

Waking Up

I arrive from dreamland
Into my room
I groan, turn over,
And wake up again,
Now that I’m here,
I can’t go back,
Uninvited rays
Of sunlight are
Peeking through
The curtain,
The birds twittering
Is as loud as an engine.
I reluctantly open the
Shade and peer out.
The trees are waving
The sun is smiling
Welcoming me back.
Everything looks quiet
And peaceful.
I grin and lie on
My cloud of sunshine.
