Waiting Poem by Alicya Trevor

Waiting

It's stupid to wait for you to come back
you're love has long since unraveled
lost in a hole
that has been sewed up
just like the hole thats left in my heart
an empty space that fills my chest
I let go and gave you my love
you took it
held it
and gave me yours
Its preserved remains in the pit of my heart
because one day
you cut off life
from the piece you gave me
then
you pulled mine
and buried it deep
covered it with layers
I'm still here waiting
waiting to dig up my heart
hoping my strength will hold
until the demons leave
the ones that are determined
to take all that i've got left
of you
that which means most
but i'll sit here and wait
because maybe
just maybe
you'll realize
you were wrong
