Wait For Our Turn Poem by Airda Jones

Wait For Our Turn

How many tears have we shared?
Countless, more than the ages
Of this earth have seen upon
It’s romantic thousands of pages
And how many shared looks
Have we spared in attempt
To see one another fully
While others stared their contempt
How often have we put aside
Our notions of this affair
To put labor before love
Even when we were still aware
Of how many times we
Sacrificed and surrendered
Now that we are empty handed
It is finally our turn
