Veganism Poem by Daya Nandan

Veganism

Rating: 5.0

Is an unborn child less valuable then a baby?
Yes? No? Or perhaps maybe?
What makes one life more valuable than another?
When all life comes from a caring mother.

Why do we preach about how sacred is life,
Yet butcher the innocent calf with the blade of a knife,
Why do we keep animals in such tight spaces,
Where they are forced to eat in the same place they expel feces,

How cruel and cold we are to animals in earth,
Merely fattening them up for the flesh they are worth,
When compassion and kindness are synonyms to the word humanity,
How can we close one eye to our own cruelty?
