Vanities Poem by Jayashantha Jayawardhana

Vanities

For First Lady Obama

You can`t touch Her, our dear first lady,
You dare not touch the Queen,
For, while you gonna be but a have been,
She will always be the Queen.

The rules are set in stone, the etiquette so strict,
You dare not violate them;
The imperialism may be over, the apartheid done with,
But subjects are lowlier still than Her Hem.
