Up Breaking Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Up Breaking

I didn't so much leave you as escape you
And I don't want to make too strong a point out of this
Since experience is only slightly more useful than lack of experience

I didn't so much free myself as free us both
I've pushed your eyes wide open with toothpicks
Plugged us both into a portal dispensing the type of knowledge we could both make use of

I didn't so much fall out of love as fail to keep up with the pace I had set
The pace of self-growth and self-improvement versus the part of my life that was stubbornly static
You never aged from the moment I met you

Given the choice, we would still be together in grim matrimony
In matching his/her outfits
Going nowhere at terminal velocity
