Untitled, Unfinished Poem by Irma Goo

Untitled, Unfinished

Rating: 4.5

I want to travel the world she said with a sigh

See the heavens, mountains, pillars of the sky

Cotton candy clouds, puffs of violet and white

Streaming rays of sunshine, beams of bright light

I want to run free she said from her desk

Stretch across fields of green without rest

Lay on hills of grass, beds spanning far and wide

Ride the sharp waves, feel the force of the tide

I want to follow my dreams she said, looking at me

Whether it be mountains, fields, or the sea

Wont you let me follow my heart for awhile?

She peered at me again with a sad smile

What dream is it this day? It changes. It never remains

Drinking tea after coffee, her teeth are stained

Sitting by the window watching the planes

Soar overhead, jets of metal and lead

I want to travel the world was a quote she once read

Was it a book? An internet surf. No matter, it was line she was fed

Repeating the refrain day after day, for weeks in her head

I want to see the world around me, The future that lies

Well darling sit up, look forward, open your eyes

You are you, this is your life, in Rome or Peru

Searching for souls, asking who who

What or who or how or why can I be

Still in my childhood bed here drinking tea
