Unproud Parent Poem by Brooke Lynn Moore

Unproud Parent

The reality,
I’m still a little girl
Wanting attention

What I mean by that
Is that I want you to see
That I’m doing well

I don’t care about
What anybody else thinks
Only what you think

My motivation
Is the idea of you
Telling me you’re proud

The only problem,
Is that you’re never around
So my plan won’t work

If you were around
I still don’t think that you’d care
But what do I know?

I’m only your kid
I guess that reality
Will not ever change

I’ll always be fine
But I’ll never be great
And you’ll never care
