Unconditional Love Poem by Amanda Marie Swiatek

Unconditional Love

I wish you realized
how close I aim to be
by your side
the thoughts iv'e shared
the feelings you've shattered
I amaze myself
the care I feel for you
a ghost from my past
a closed door needed to be forced open
no matter the consequence
your hole burns in my soul
a blank stare
I look away, I move on, I break past
your heartless world
let me in, don't let me go
I beg of you
to make me whole
make me smile
kiss me
love with me

to break free with me
would be to leave
with me
your home is cold
your being is ice
opposites attract he tells me
I can see the glimmer in your eyes
I can see your heart breaking
it makes me smile
it makes me laugh
I can see through you
black ice
your smile and kind words
no longer fool me

what you don't realize is that
I read you like a book
hope turning to horror
love turning to hate
back to love
back to hate
what I would give up
to be able
to kick you to the ground
is astonishing
my lack of concern
for you
is breathtaking

it makes my mind go numb
to see the darkness in your eyes
I can be dark
I can be kind
I can be honest
truthful
It made me sick
that night I compared myself to you
my experiences
utter disgust

I can imagine you
standing on that bridge
the one that you were never really on
I can imagine us laying on
the ground
earthbound
my love
my worst enemy
the one I will always come back to
the one I will never forget

strength is my entire existence
to keep myself from you
at ease
powerless
