Two Human Voices Poem by Shaun Cronick

Two Human Voices

Rating: 4.5

There are two voices.
That every day speak from the human heart.
One voice will loudly say,
What can I get?
What can I get for myself from life?
How can I do as little as possible in life?
For I'm important.
So special.
And the other voice softly whispers,
What can I give as this day unfolds?
What can I give each hour that I live,
To this blue planet and its dire needs?
How best can I meet the great desires of this day?
How can I help?
These are the two voices that speak every day,
From the fathomless depths of every human heart.
And if we choose to listen to the one of giving,
Then hope survives in this world,
And all who believe in it,
And their happiness grows.
I welcome that voice.
