Two Hostile Brothers Fought A Deadly Death Dance Poem by Terence George Craddock

Two Hostile Brothers Fought A Deadly Death Dance

this is a medieval sequel to the Cain killed Abel genesis stories
except the killing is not jealousy over who has their God's favour
but jealousy over who has the beloved lusted for woman's favour
with a twist of fermented apple juice mixed into a simmering stew!
spotlight Genesis brother hate anger jealousy brother killing brother
while out in a field together Cain rises up against Abel smites him dead
why did Cain murder Abel because Cain was evil Abel was righteous?
a terrible Biblical Historical stage is set murder killing innocent blood!

how did Cain murder Abel we drew a Bible blank no juicy details
weapons spears swords daggers guns had not been invented yet
did Cain smash Abel's head in with a stone strike him with a stick?
perhaps Cain invented the club and clubbed his brother to dead
it is a no brainer Abel is dead his blood cries out from death dust
now we skip forward in history thousands of years to a fearful fight?

a chilling tale of brother against brother fought in evil darkness sight
on a mountain summit a family castle is wrapped in brooding night
in valley echo blows gleam sparkles struck by clashing swords in fight
brothers in fury fierce wage bitter battle against a fire skyline spectral?
hand against hand in violent ferocious rage burns a deadly hatred brand
see a hellish diabolical hate burns in each fevered searing brother eye
which ill-fated foolish blood kinsman brother if any will here fall to die
what could be a festering cause to turn brother against brother suicidal?

what dark deceit fly in bitter ointment could brew this festering stew
it was passion inflamed by beauty Countess Laura's beaming glances
it was her looks tempting irresistible which did this fatal feud inflame?
dry kindling cauldron set were both brothers with equal intense passion
thus set in motion was a viper hissing dance for a fair and noble dame
who could win the fair one's favor win her for his own beloved bride?

below mountain summit high where lies noble birthright
their own home castle wrapped in poison darkest night
two brothers fought their fatal deadliest mortal fight
in the valley shadow where neither may again see light?
both brothers vain to vain to seek her heart's inclining
sought to kill competition draw sword let that decide
wild desperate grows vile combat hear a death knell wait
clashing strokes like thunder fly see a shadow sinister fate?

yet none cried warning stop beware ye savage warriors
evil powers like a satanic hunger prowl this cursed night
woe is a blood curse you sow ye stupid bloody brothers?
woe thy sow in anger hate into a peaceful ancestral valley
thus is struck by each other's sweat swords tiring expiring
a heart stopping deadly blow sink brothers stark pale dead?

river time must flow on stark wind stinging dust must go
many centuries spent departed many new races lived died
found a tomb yet still from witness yonder rocky summits
frown those fate fallen castle moss-grown towers of gloom?
still a brother feud curse blood spilt taints a dreary valley
dare thee to venture out to view fearful sights seen by night
as midnight strikes brothers hate still renew a ghastly fight
love a fairytale start became curse fly in ruin feud ointment?

has dark time proved she was beloved worth fighting over?
did brothers wonderer why women desire to be fought over?
did she have a choice even want to evil desire be fought over?
one wonders who of choice two brothers the beloved loved?
did the brothers not think to ask her no in their vanity never!
did she encourage conflict savouring a duel fought over her?

were Countess Laura's beaming glances young girl flirt glances?
were they purity of heart a young girl's joy happy innocent glances?
was Countess Laura enjoying ego attention or did she hate the feud?
did she attempt to dissuade two brothers from a moral deadly fight?

were they thinking with testosterone muscle not brain?
upon their deaths did she mourn them indifferent or in pain?
did she die a virgin virtuous or soon depart with another suitor?
as for fallen two brothers fatal folly was it naught but life hate wasted?

questions errors creep in shadows wisdom walks wise in light...
