Twenty Years Ago Poem by Phil Mason

Twenty Years Ago

Twenty years ago

All this might all have been quite different.
Not so marred by the complications of this moment.
But there is no going back to what can not be
And never was.
Twenty years ago.

Slivers of time, in memories never seen.
Dreams alone, empty of any reality.
Talking and thinking of what might have been
Twenty years ago.

Unattached and unattainable
Simply because time often passes unseen.
And memories, unrecognized, today
Never happened.
Twenty years ago.
