'Twas On The Eve Of Christmas Poem by ANDREW BLAKEMORE

'Twas On The Eve Of Christmas

'Twas on the eve of Christmas
And the ground was frozen white,
A mother and her only child
Were cast into the night,
Evicted from their residence
For rent they could not pay,
And now they wandered all alone
Without a place to stay.

The snowflakes started falling
As they floated through the air,
They sought to find some shelter
But they only found despair,
The little girl was weeping
And too tired to carry on,
With nothing left to call her own
For everything had gone.

She stared into her mother's eyes
Although so frail and weak,
Then asked a simple question
As a tear rolled down her cheek,
'Will Father Christmas find me
If I have nowhere to live? '
Her mother could not answer
And no promise could she give.
