You didn't get to select your parents
Or choose your circumstances
Perhaps Life dealt you a bad hand
Or you had more than your share of pain
You may have added to the problem
By your reactions to the unfairness
By acting out, in self-destruction,
You failed the sought relief to gain.
But you can yet rise from the ashes
And overcome, and finish strong,
And do good with the life you're given
And not perpetuate the wrong.
You have more say-so than you think
A victim or a victor to be
Your past is not your future,
You're free to choose your destiny.
Problems come in life but we have to face as these do not last for long time. Yes, you can rise from ashes. Only positive vision, thought and action are required. A nice poem is beautifully penned with enthusiasm and hope. An excellent poem is shared...10

Turn life around. A difficult task to be done. Well written poem!
Thank you, Kostas, for your appreciation. Difficult, but not impossible, right? Determination gets the difficult done ! :)
I turned it around once I got up off the ground, now my life has settled down, and in you a friend I found.
Thank you, Louis, for your reply in perfect rhyme, which fits this poem just fine! I appreciate your comment! It's much prettier to view the sky, than staring at the ground all the time! :)

I like the message of this poem, Poetess. A good one to remember when inclined to sink into Poor me! mode. Been enjoying reading some of your poems after a long time.
Thank you, dear Laurie! A pleasant surprise to hear from you! I value your opinion.
