i carry a terrible burden
hidden behind the lies
it weighs down my shoulders
making it hard to hold my head high
it eats away at my heart
making it hard to breathe
a secret hidden for so long
just wanting to reveal itself
but it can't overcome the walls
that i have taken so long to build
i will do whatever
to protect you from finding out
because i know you cannot understand
for it is my burden
and mine alone.
