Trying To Remember Poem by C.S. Keskuela

i'm trying to remember
remember how i used to build the walls
surrounding my heart
so no one could see the real me
the joys i lived
and pains i suffered

i can no longer find them
the walls that i build
that you brought crashing down
and now that you are gone
i live in a crystal palace
filled with breakable treasures

unable to hide how i feel
the sorrow and sadness
is too deep and intense
this anguish too real

i'm trying to remember
how to be strong
to shield you from mine own suffering
as you also cannot shield me from yours

i'm trying to remember
that i have to live without you
you will not make yourself mine
that my love you did decline....
