Trust Poem by Daya Nandan

Trust

Don't trust too easily in this life,
For there are traitors concealing their sharpened knife,
Disguised as angels to the naked eye,
Waiting to backstab you until you die,

Do not depend, trust or love blindly,
For not everyone will respond to good intentions kindly,
Do not hold on to promises that they make,
For if betrayal strikes your heart will break,

Leaving pieces of broken shards lingering on the floor,
Bringing sorrow and pain closer go your door,
Do not rely or depend on others too much,
Because betrayal brings souls closer to death's touch,

Trust yourself the most and be a one man show,
Trust the swirling energy within as it starts to glow,
No one will stay by your side until your stone's final mark,
Even your shadow will abandon you in the dark!
