Tribute To My Dad Poem by Richard Sockett

Tribute To My Dad

There is so much I want to say about how much you meant to me
Role model, friend, teacher, the best gardener you ever did see
Images of the world perfectly captured by your water colour brush
Birds in the garden well fed at the table, my favourite the song thrush
Under your guidance we all knew nothing could go wrong
The happy times we spent with you will be with us our whole lives long
Eight grandchildren loved taking donkey rides upon your back

Three children all looked to you and mum for the love that we will never lack
Over the years, you were always there for us and still are in many ways

Memories of you will never fade, you are with us in spirit for the rest of our days
Your garden will grow, the veg will taste great and tiny shoots explode into flower

Diligently teaching us your green fingered ways, you have given us the power
Above all you have proved life was there to be lived, go and get it and be the best
Don’t look back now, keep moving on until you reach the place of final rest.

A very touching and emotional, well crafted piece. Words flow when they come from the soul. I'm touched..
