Tribute To Ferris Stuart Poem by Buxton Shippy

Tribute To Ferris Stuart

A man with an iron hand,
Strong probing eyes,
A fist of steel
Yet built with the heart
Of an angel.
I knew that man;
My brother, Ferris S.
When my father was absent
He was present.
When the bullies attacked me,
Without a cause,
He was my defender;
But as the years passed
Memories became dimmed.
We grew apart.
Still, the affections,
Of those early years never waned.
His Clock stopped ticking,
On a mid-day in Spring.
Now he is there.
I am here
But his fatherly admonitions
Ring daily in my head.
R.I.P. Brother.
