Transient In Our Encounter Poem by Low Li Ling Jasmine

Transient In Our Encounter

The crowded ball room limits visibility
Still, our eyes meet and lock
As if fascination lay in the curve of our face,
passion sparkled in our eyes,
interesting whispers waited inside our lips,
desire burned in our hearts
Time held a meaning
I wished it would merge with eternity and never crawl on

A brief encounter
An instant connection
We are still the stiffest of the strangers
To mask our eagerness, to suppress our urges
For the others would not turn a blind eye to our addresses

We are impossible
We both knew the terrible upheaval that could stir if we gave in to the temptation whispered in our ears

I dismissed a notion and withdrew from our game of glances
Silently I bid a goodbye
This toast of wine
For our fleeting encounter
