Towers Poem by Josey Alfred

Towers

All cities have towers
Made of strange fossils!
From agony, hidden from our eyes!
Of ancestors who have, forgone
Their life and blood,
And have yet paid by it.

Those who had to suffer the agony!
Of waiting for their imminent death,
Under sedation, and forced breathing
In I C U's where, death is postponed,
By the amount of cash relatives, can afford.
Throwing to wind, the medical ethics.***

The greedy hatch man, the specialist
Under constant pressure, from their masters,
Are forced to bargain and force the close relatives,
To produce funds, for a vain rescue run.
Thus death is postponed, for a short agonizing while.

The outcome is no doubt the same,
The aged patient with multiple complains
Will succumb to his ailments,
And will seek his earthly grave.
And will leave his dear one,
In pathetic financial conditions,
For whole of his life,
And is the outcome of such unethical treatments.

***
In the 1948, the 2nd general assembly of the world
Medical assembly adopted the declaration of Geneva.

note: AT THE TIME OF BEING ADMITTED AS A MEMBER OF THE MEDICAL PROFESSION.
Despite their shortcoming Doctors' othes are likely hereto stay as Dr Howard Markel
Recently noted.

' It serves as a powerful reminder and declaration that we are all a part of something infinitely larger, older and more important than a particular specialty or institution.....The need for physician to make a formal warrant of diligent, moral, and ethical conduct in the service of their patients may be stronger than ever, '.
