Too Far Too Long Poem by Patty Rose

Too Far Too Long

The way back cannot be found
if you’ve run too far too long
so much unable to reign
only the fear left to remain

If you turn toward the sea
and discover your soul
a ripple under the breeze
echoing in its captivity

Forever gone
my soul upon the waves
to seek the peace
that life once gave

Loneliness sets upon the dying within
for I’ve run too far too long
my yearning has faded, my grasp too weak
to catch my soul from the wind off the sea

Forever gone my soul upon the waves
but in the darkness of the moon
she may come back unto me soon
if I don’t run too far too long
