Tongue Tied Poem by B. V. Dahlen

Tongue Tied

Rating: 0.5

Adonis by the sparkling sea
with muscled chest and curling hair
You won me with your dimpled grin,
boyish features, macho flair

You set my heart to rhythms fleet,
and filled my dreams with lusty plots.
Though I had secrets to reveal,
your presence bound my tongue in knots.

Ah, recollections of those days
Two sun washed youngsters by the sea
I gaze now at your silvered pate,
and smile again at memories.

Would I be happy to exchange
the peace and comfort of today
For youth and insecurity
For pulsing breast and dumb cliché?

When you enfold my widening waist
Or clasp my hand when on a stroll
I now can tell you all those words
That then lay hidden in my soul.
