Tongue Tied Poem by shimon weinroth

Tongue Tied

sometimes when I hear
what I say or had planned to say
it's not at all like
what I had thought
once heard I can not swallow it

I try to explain with a lexis
unable
to make the statement disappear
even canceling the remark
the implicature has taken seed

and cancerous growth embedded
in the listening mind
language real, unreeled unreal
so absurd she swallowed a bird
'how now brown cow'
