Today Two Bombs Exploded In Jolo Poem by RIC BASTASA

just this morning
two bombs exploded at
the carmel church in
Jolo


Among the 20 fatalities
were 15 civilians
and 5 soldiers

among the dead were
my classmate Romy and his
wife Leah
who were both musicians
and singers

today their house would
be empty
and their three poodles
would have no one
feeding them

the heart of Jolo is
made of stone
but today it shall bleed
again

turning rivers and
seas bloody

the smell of blood
and dead flesh
shall once again
spread throughout
the airs of
this earth...
