To Want And Not Get Poem by Denice Woods

To Want And Not Get

Never give so much of yourself
That you no longer exist.
For that reason
Love no longer ranks
so highly on my list
what I wanted and needed
you exploited and flaunted
So now it's your turn
to want and not get.
I want you too much
to walk away or split-up,
just my dumb luck
Only a fool would allow themselves
To be used this way
But at the end of the day
Here I stay.
I can't understand why
Because every time you say
you love me
I know it's all a lie.
Or maybe it's true
because you love so many others
How is it normal to have one wife
Yet have so many lovers?
I need you like the moon
Needs the sun.
Too bad
So sad
I really thought you were the one.
Too late now
You got me right where you want me
So go right on ahead
Destroy my feelings
Exploit my heart
Flaunt what you've done.
Love no longer ranks
so highly on my list
what I wanted and needed
you exploited and flaunted
I can't wait to see how it
feels for you to want and never get.
