To The Shadows Poem by Katie Anon

You are the source of much conflict and fear

The voice that whispers in my ear

Words of criticism & negativity

That make it scary just being me

With your words you bring so much doubt

Emotions that lessen my voice to nought

Now I know where you have come from

Most importantly I know you're wrong

Yes you still have a hold over me

For you tap into my insecurity

But Mr Shadow born from the past

Your control over me will not last

Each time I hear your horrid sound

I will ask has the truth been found

And as I know you are full of lies

I will continue despite your cries

If I struggle to believe you're not true

Then I will ask another view

In sharing your voice out loud

I hope to escape your choking cloud

When I do these I am beating you

As I know emotions do just pass through

You are just a voice that is wrong

And with time your power will be gone
