To The Hills Of Mulholland Poem by Mason Maestro

To The Hills Of Mulholland

Rating: 5.0

The lion roared on a wooden bench
And the director sat with microphone in hand
The strips of film clippings were strewn across the floor
And the director looked up at the lights
And he said to himself
‘Ingenuous as an actor
Yesteryear is for fools'
And he breathed in smoke
And set out for this paramount
From a burning pile of holly
Turned his back on his faith
One more, one more bolder

When you add it all up
The fear and the gladness pour
As drama unfolds
And comedy makes a box-office run
Here, the cowboy killed the villain
And the villain killed the Jedi
And the Jedi killed the spy
And the spy killed prince charming
And that is the scoop
And is it any wonder
That old Walt was amused
He said ‘Back to first marks
Bring in the extras'
As the Lead paused to read
During stand-by as agreed
The producer on staff
And screen writer on hand said
‘Don't probe the script lines
You're a smart chap
We casted your ass'

Ingenuous as an actor
Yesteryear is for fools
And the fools are the tools in the hands
Of the great Oscar idol'
And they gave him a mansion
On the hills of Mulholland
In return for his soul
And a slice of a pie
Consigned til the day that he'll die
